Welcome Night is a night designed for fun and connection with our students. It's an opportunity for our students to bring friends, play some games, and just have fun. We've made a number of changes to our student gathering for 2022. I share those changes in a series of vlogs and blogs coming up in just a couple of weeks.

Because it was a game night, we shortened our worship set to included only 2 songs, led by our Director of Student Worship.
  • House of the Lord
  • Goodness of God

This weeks Message Summary

This week, as focus was on connecting and having fun with our students, so we did not do our regular worship and teaching time. So we went over some of the discipleship and bible study opportunities that are coming up in the next couple of weeks, including our next teaching series called, God, Guys, and Girls, which will begin on Tuesday, February 15th. I'll talk more about the series next week.

It's never happened to me before, postponing a winter retreat due to winter weather. But as they say, there's a first time for everything.

The weather-man was calling for an ice storm, followed by a snow storm, with the possibility of power outages, down trees and limbs, closed roads, and a real mess. It happened. As predicted, it happened. The down trees and limbs, closed roads, power outages; it was a real mess.

And the timing couldn't have been worse, just before we were to leave for our retreat. It was a tough decision, one I never like to make, but with conditions as they were, it was the right call to make. So postponed our winter retreat.

Take a few minutes to watch today's episode of The Youth Worker Daily, and see why and how we went about postponing our winter retreat!

In June of 2019, I started serving as a Director of Family Ministry, overseeing our Kids, Students, College, and Family Ministries.

As I step further and further into this role, I'm looking for resources and tools that will help us develop a ministry to our families. With this journey, The Youth Worker Daily will share some of the resources we come across and the resources we create for our family ministry.
Picture
Along with family ministry resources, we hope to share more materials for kids ministry, student ministry, college ministry, and young adult ministry. So if you are someone who works as a Family Ministry Director or Pastor, I'd love to connect with you, learn from you, partner with you. Leave a comment below or connect with me on our social media.

this weeks message summary

- This week we wrapped up our mini-series, SHINE. We decided to theme out our year to help us move towards our goal of connecting students with discipleship and serving opportunities. We looked at Matthew 5:14-16, and talked about what it looks like to move from the dark into the light. When it's all said and done, we will attempt to live out Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
